ABOUT FIRSTPITCH
  • Greenfield, MN – December 1, 2008 - Why should a quality pitching machine cost over
$1,500? That was the question Micro Machine owner Steve Van Oss was asking himself when
he went looking to buy one for his two children that were in Little League. He found that the
models that were more affordable were usually poorly constructed.

  • Micro Machine is a machine shop, complete with design engineers. Steve then asked himself if
he couldn't do better by designing and building a pitching machine to his own quality standards
for a reasonable price and First Pitch was born. First Pitch now has three models to give your
budget some flexibility. These models feature larger motors with a thicker motor enclosure for
better protection and performance than most models. These models all come with a complete
five year warranty whether it is used for league play or at home. This warranty covers all
mechanical and electrical parts against premature wear or failure, electrical malfunction or
accidental damage during reasonable normal use. When Steve was asked if he really wanted
the warranty to extend to accidental damage he replied, "Our workmanship and materials are
superior and we will stand by that." The motor is a 1/3 HP U.S. made motor, which is more
powerful than most machines on the market. But more significant than that, is the construction of
the motor. It features a 7/8-inch diameter shaft and a 1-inch bearing. Only one other machine on
the market offers this durability and that machine cost hundreds of dollars more. All models
will tip forward for ground balls and all the way back for pop ups and anywhere in between.
The XL model offers a full 360-degree swivel for fielding practice.
